Compare which client portals connect to Claude and ChatGPT, what each AI can read, and who on your team can use it. Dora, Clientary, Ahsuite and XTablo are covered.
Short answer
Dora connects to both Claude and ChatGPT over MCP and gives them the full brief and client context. Other portals vary: XTablo says ChatGPT isn't supported yet, Ahsuite works with Claude and other MCP apps, and Clientary supports both. Check whether the connection serves your whole team or only admins.
When does the answer change?
"Works with Claude and ChatGPT" isn't a yes/no box. The right portal depends on what your team already uses, who needs access, and what you want the AI to do. Run any candidate through these four checks:
- Both assistants, not just one. Support is uneven. Some portals connect to Claude only, and a portal that only fits the assistant half your team avoids isn't much help.
- What the AI can read. Can it see the brief, files, messages and client history, or only a list of tasks? A connector that only creates tasks saves far less time than one that hands the AI the full brief.
- Who can connect. One admin, the whole team, or clients too. If only the account owner can use the connection, your designers and developers are still copy-pasting.
- Who approves what reaches a client. Anything sent to a client should wait for a human click.
Two other factors shift the answer. If you want invoicing and time logging inside the same tool, an invoicing-first product will suit you better than a request-and-approval portal. And vendor claims change fast, so check the vendor's own page before you buy. If MCP is new to you, MCP for agencies explains how teams use it day to day.
Don't pick a client portal because "AI integration" appears on its pricing page. Pick it by what the AI can read and who can use it.
Which portals connect to Claude and ChatGPT?
Dora, Clientary and (per its own page) Ahsuite's MCP connector all work with Claude, and Dora and Clientary also work with ChatGPT. XTablo says ChatGPT isn't supported yet. The details below come from each vendor's own pages, so treat them as vendor claims.
| Tool | Claude | ChatGPT | What the AI can do | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dora | Yes, over MCP | Yes, over MCP | Works from the full brief and client context | Whole team and clients; unlimited seats; no invoicing or project planning |
| XTablo | Yes (Claude Code and Cursor) | Not yet | 24 tools: projects, steps, tasks, messages, reporting | Vendor claim, as of its October 2026 page |
| Ahsuite | Yes | Not named; any MCP-capable app | Builds portals, pages, tasks, file requests | About a minute to connect (vendor claim) |
| Clientary | Yes | Yes (also Gemini) | Log time, draft invoices, update projects | Invoicing focus; nothing goes to a client without your go-ahead |
Dora
Dora is an agentic client portal: clients ask in plain words, Dora writes the brief, and your own AI connects to the same data. You can connect Claude or connect ChatGPT on every plan. Both reach the whole team and clients, not just the account owner.
Because the AI sees the brief and client context, you can ask "what does this client need for the landing page?" and get an answer grounded in the actual request. Dora doesn't do invoicing, contracts or internal project planning. It handles the client side: intake, briefs, files, feedback and sign-off.
XTablo, Ahsuite and Clientary
XTablo describes an MCP server with 24 tools that let Claude create projects, steps and tasks, read messages and push numbers into reporting. Its page says the connector works in Claude Code and Cursor today and that ChatGPT isn't supported yet.
Ahsuite says you can connect it to Claude or any AI app that supports MCP connectors, and that it builds portals, pages, tasks and file requests in your account. It reports about a minute to connect.
Clientary says its MCP connection works with Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, signs in as the user, and doesn't send anything to a client without the user's go-ahead. It leans toward invoicing and time tracking, which is useful if that's the job you want AI to do.
ManyRequests and Assembly
Both offer MCP connectors, but they're built for admins. That's the gap that matters if you want designers, developers and account leads working from the same context. We cover the specifics in Dora vs ManyRequests and Dora vs Assembly rather than repeating them here.
How do you connect Claude or ChatGPT to a portal?
Most connections follow the same four steps, and vendors report it takes about a minute.
- Add the portal's MCP server in your assistant's connector settings.
- Sign in and approve the connection. Vendors such as Ahsuite and Clientary describe this as a one-time sign-in.
- Start read-only. Ask something like "what's waiting on the client?" and check the answer against the portal.
- Then let it draft. Have it write briefs or requests, with approval before anything reaches a client.
To test whether the connection earns its keep, take five recent requests. Time how long it takes to get a complete brief into your AI tool with and without the portal connection. Then count clarifying emails per request over four weeks.
You can also build your own. A Reddit post describes an open-source portal built with Claude Code, and a YouTube tutorial shows a ChatGPT Sites portal for files and notes. Both are anecdotal and unverified, and you'd own the maintenance.
If you want Claude and ChatGPT working from the full brief and client context, connect Claude and ChatGPT to Dora; your first client is free, forever.
Related questions
What is MCP and why does it matter for client portals?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol that lets an AI app read and act inside another tool. The portal exposes a set of tools, and Claude or ChatGPT uses them on real client data instead of whatever you paste in. That's why the connection matters more than the chat window.
Can Claude or ChatGPT message my clients on their own?
It depends on the tool. Clientary says nothing goes to a client without the user's go-ahead. With Dora, changes made through chat wait for your click, and the AI only assigns or approves work on its own if you turn that on.
Is my clients' data safe when I connect an AI assistant?
Check each vendor's terms before connecting. Dora runs on Claude by Anthropic, and neither Dora nor Anthropic trains models on your content under Anthropic's commercial terms. More on how client data is handled is on the security page.
Do clients need to log in or use AI themselves?
No. Clients can send requests and answer updates entirely by email, and Dora keeps the portal up to date. If a client does want to use their own AI, MCP access for clients is available on every plan.
